Mezzo soprano
Claire Shackleton, mezzo-soprano, has performed with a variety opera companies and orchestras and is currently on the voice faculty of Loyola University New Orleans. A champion of new music, Claire has debuted and workshopped several new works by composers Logan Skelton, Tucker Fuller, Stacy Garrop, Ben Moore, Robert Patterson, and Ryan Olivier. Claire looks forward to this season’s debut of Glyn Bailey’s How to Kill a Diva, as well as a reprisal of Tucker Fuller’s Book of Saints with Marigny Opera Ballet, the Pergolesi Stabat Mater with Opus Opera, Buxtehude’s Jesu Membra Nostri with the Krewe de Voix Chamber Ensemble, and Resphighi’s Il Tramonto with New Orleans Chamber Orchestra.
Claire has performed standard repertoire opera roles with Central City Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, New Orleans Opera, Hawaii Opera Theater, Austin Lyric Opera, Kentucky Opera, Pacific Opera Project, Opera Louisiane, Amarillo Opera, Pine Mountain Music Festival, Jefferson Performing Arts Society and Ohio Light Opera.
Claire received her Masters of Music in Voice from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. She received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Loyola University New Orleans.
